Clause (jumla singular, jumal plural) is a grammatical unit containing a predication, typically involving a subject and a predicate, whether explicitly expressed or grammatically understood. A clause may constitute a complete or form part of a larger sentence.
The Arabic term jumla may refer to what English grammar describes as either a clause or a sentence. The two terms are therefore not exact equivalents.
